For those who desire a rejuvenated and more youthful appearance, there are a number of options available. An easy and noninvasive way to achieve your desired results is with Botox. Among its many benefits, Botox allows you to achieve an improved look without having to endure prolonged post-treatment downtime and results can be seen in as few as seven days.
With that said, there are some steps you might take to make sure your recovery from Botox is smooth and seamless. Allow us to share some suggestions.
Recovering from Botox
Botox is sometimes called a “lunchtime procedure,” because you can have it done in as little as 15 minutes then immediately head back to work. Indeed, many of our clients really do have Botox done while on their lunch break! While there isn’t any need to rest up after Botox, you may sometimes experience some minor bruising or swelling. Here’s how to minimize it:
- Avoid extreme heat. For about 24 hours following your Botox injection, we’d recommend steering clear of hot showers and other forms of heat. The reason is simple: Heat can cause your blood vessels to dilate, which in turn increases your risk of bruising.
- Lay off of extremely strenuous activity. It’s totally fine to head back to work following a Botox injection, or to go about your normal household responsibilities. What you might want to avoid is extremely vigorous activity; don’t go run a half marathon, for instance, without giving yourself a day or two to rest. Again, this is just a good way to keep swelling and bruising to a minimum.
- Avoid rubbing the injection site. It may take five to 10 days for you to see the full results of your Botox injection. In the meantime, avoid rubbing your skin around the injection site, which may compromise your results.
- Don’t use any anti-inflammatory drugs or blood thinners. Certain medications will make you far more likely to endure bruising, swelling, or other ill effects following your Botox procedure. Make sure to report any medications you are currently taking to your injector, who will advise you on how those medications might interact with the Botox treatment.
These are just a few simple steps you can take to make sure you bounce back from Botox without too much bruising or swelling, and to experience your results plainly and fully evident as quickly as possible.
