Wedding Planning

by: Michelle Mernah, Master Aesthetician

Wedding season traditionally begins late spring and extends into early fall, which means we’re in the heart of wedding season! (cue the doves) Planning a wedding is a special time.  When it comes to preparing for a wedding, often times preparing your skin for your big day is overlooked by venues and dresses. That is why I’m here to offer advice on how to prep your skin for your big day. Ideally having a year in advance to prep your skin will give you that “ultimate bridal glow”, but if you don’t have a year, starting 6-9 months out will work too!

First and foremost, a skincare consultation with an Aesthetician (like me!) is where to start. This will be the most helpful in understanding what treatments/ products are necessary in achieving your skin goals. This allows me (as a provider) to determine the best and necessary treatments for your skin, as well as customizing a morning and night skincare routine. It’s important to be using quality, medical-grade products before starting any treatments to obtain ultimate results. This is the start of your “wedding skin journey”.

  • 6-9 months: Starting a series of “corrective treatments” such as chemical peels, microneedling or Morpheus 8 to address skin concerns such as acne, pigmentation, fine lines/wrinkles and texture. Also a good time for anyone who is interested in trying out botox/filler for the first time.
  • 3-4 months: Getting a facial with manual, deep extractions. This is key for great looking skin and gives your skin enough time to heal from the extractions. A “deep clean” is necessary for all skin types regardless of acne.
  • 1-2 months: Hydrafacial!  This is a great option close to your big day because there is minimal downtime. Hydrafacial exfoliates, as well as infusing your skin with vitamins and hydration.
  • 1-2 weeks: Dermaplaning. Dermaplaning. Dermaplaning. I love doing this as close to the big day as possible. It removes dead skin and peach fuzz which leaves your skin looking smooth. This also is key to your makeup looking flawless for the “timeless” pictures of your special day!
