Combination Treatments – Featuring The Triple Threat

By Brittany Brown, Master Aesthetician
Laser season is upon us! While you’re getting less sun exposure during the fall and winter months, it’s a great opportunity to enhance the appearance of your skin with a laser treatment administered by our team of experts. Understanding all the various types of lasers can be overwhelming, but we’re here to break down which is best for your skin goals, type, and needs.  Javan proudly invests in lasers for all skin types and skin concerns, and our expert providers offer consultations to assess your skin first – so rest assured there is a solution to achieving a youthful, healthy glow.
Let’s first talk about our most popular options.
Broad Band Light (BBL)
To put it simply, Broad Band Light, or BBL (not the other kind of BBL!), is an excellent choice if you’re trying to target unwanted browns or redness in the skin. This treatment involves using intense pulse lighting (IPL) through different filters and fragments of light and is great for treating freckles, rosacea, and even active acne.
Moxi
If your goal is to improve texture and reduce pigmentation, which can be the result of sun damage to the skin, Moxi or microneedling are going to be better treatment options. Moxi is a laser designed with everyone in mind – great for all ‘prejuvenation’ and helps with preventative anti-aging by dispersing microchannels throughout the skin, similar to aeration of a lawn. These microchannels are promoting collagen, elastin and targeting variations of pigment in the skin (this is why we do BBL and Moxi as a combination treatment!). Moxi feels a bit prickly, with a wave of heat that lasts about an hour post-treatment. Patients will experience dots that are called “mends” and the surface of skin will have a sandpaper texture that will fall off naturally within 5-8 days, and then you are left with a filter free glow.
Microneedling
With microneedling we’re creating microchannels in the skin using tiny needles to help promote collagen and elastin. Doing a series of microneedling treatments will improve overall skin appearance, but especially addresses pore size, texture, acne scarring, and fine lines. Patients will experience pinkness in their skin for two to three days post-treatment, and sometimes flakiness from cell turnover (new skin!) can occur. It can feel like a tight sunburn that subsides in three to five days.
The Triple Threat – The ultimate Combination Customized for you
We know – it sounds like a serious treatment and it sure is!  If you’re trying to totally revamp your skin, our Triple Threat will pack a punch and utilize three different modalities to deliver a corrective, transformative result.  It’s like stacking a few appointments in one; oftentimes when we provide consultations to our patients, our patients describe a combination of issues and skincare goals.
The triple threat is a curated option of three steps designed to help patients with multiple concerns such as redness, pigment, texture, and/or sagging, and tone.  After all, combo issues usually require combo therapies.  Providers and patients alike love this treatment because we’re able to customize each step to suit your unique skin using variations of BBL, Moxi, microneedling, laser genesis, and resurfacing.  The icing on the cake is the topper – stem cells or exosomes to promote rejuvenation and healing, minimizing your down time and maximizing your results.
The Triple threat is Javan’s ultimate fall season treatment to undo all the summer damage and get your skin glowing for the holidays. This treatment always requires a consultation first, and a proper skincare regimen to prepare the skin. We also recommend avoiding artificial tans, direct sun exposure and discontinuing retinol use five days before treatment.
Skincare is a MUST!
We know there are a wide range of skincare options for daily use.  However, we always recommend utilizing products recommended by us at Javan.  Every product in our practice is reviewed, tried, and tested with our treatments to ensure safety and the ability to give you the absolute best results.  We always say treatments at our practice are a great way to give you results, but a proper at home skincare regimen is a MUST when it comes to keeping your results and continuing to improve them.
For post-treatment we recommend avoiding direct sun exposure and keeping your skin hydrated. Downtime varies per treatment which makes it especially important to follow our skincare recommendations as carefully as possible – don’t worry! We typically write all of this out for you to take home.  Generally, 7-10 days without exfoliation,  using our newest product line offered at Javan – the Epicutis Lipid Serum and Mask, and finally, our most popular product in the practice – Phyto-C B5 Gel – is a solid recipe to give you the best results post treatment.
