By Taylor Stewart, RN Aesthetic Injector
As a nurse injector, I hear wild stories every October (and honestly, all year long). This time of the year is often our busiest, with people trying to get in last minute to get ready for the holiday seasoning approaching. At Javan, we leave out the “Trick” and put the “Treat” in any treatment that we do. Since it’s officially spooky-season, let’s play a fun myth-busting game I like to call “Fillers or Thrillers?”
Myth #1: “Filler Migrates Everywhere.”
This one refuses to die. Yes—filler can migrate… but not the way social media makes it seem. Hyaluronic acid fillers are designed to stay where they’re placed when injected with the correct depth, technique, and product type.
If migration happens, it’s usually from overfilling, wrong plane placement, or using the wrong product for the area. The fix? A skilled injector (hi 👋🏻) who respects anatomy and symmetry—not just “plumping.”
Truth: With proper technique and product selection, migration is rare—not a horror story.
Myth #2: “You’ll Look Fake or Overdone.”
This one haunts almost everyone before their first appointment. I hear so many clients in my chair fear the “pillow-face” look. Although this is a true look, it’s not from filler itself—it’s from too much filler. Javan’s injectors use conservative dosing and layering for a refreshed, natural outcome. Think soft, balanced, and subtly lifted—not spooky. After all, your face is a reflection of our work!
Truth: The best filler isn’t noticed. It’s felt in your confidence.
Myth #3: “Once You Start, You’ll Never Stop.”
Let’s be real: you won’t need to keep doing filler, but you’ll probably want to once you see the results. Hyaluronic acid is made in the body itself and breaks down naturally over time. Touch-ups keep results consistent. It’s no different than maintaining hair color or skincare.
Truth: Maintenance ≠ addiction. You are in control—not the syringe.
Myth #4: “Filler Is Toxic or Dangerous.”
Actually, most fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a sugar molecule your body already produces. When done safely, it integrates beautifully into the tissue. The true danger? Non-medical or uneducated injectors, counterfeit products, and cutting corners. Just because it is cheaper, does NOT mean it is better!
Truth: Filler can be dangerous if placed in the wrong hands. Choose qualified medical professionals, FDA-approved products, and a clean environment. All of the nurses at Javan go through extensive and continuous training on product type and facial anatomy.
Trick or Treat Yourself?
Aesthetic medicine isn’t about chasing perfection—it’s about confidence, prevention, and feeling like your best self. This Halloween, ditch the fear and embrace the science. Whether it’s filler, Botox, or skincare, choose a provider who treats you like a whole person, not a project.
